The pub is called Green Hunter. We were inside but the roof was open so that small flowers from the trees were falling in and landing in people's hair and on the tables. The prettiness lay beside the beer glasses and men. There were women in the pub too, and some children. Some of the men were fat in the stomach and these usually had a beer in their hand. These men seemed to have had a lot to do with the team playing because they were very upset when it was going badly for the team and angrily happy when it was going well. Other men were gaunt and wrinkled and their face seemed grey, although skin probably cannot really be grey unless the body is dead. These were probably heavy smokers and they often pushed stretched smiles at the fatter men and the smiles seemed to hurt.

The home team's colours were purple and blue. The other team wore unpleasant red costumes.

Beside me on my right a man talked to himself and to the players. He had a few days of hair on his face like weeds in a carpark and a polyester pullover, jeans, and nondescript shoes. He was the first kind of man because his stomach rolled over his belt, exposed when his pullover came up, and because he did not often not have a beer in his hand and was not often not drinking the beer. His eyes were blue but dull and without depth. When the purple-clothed players had the ball he clapped his hands furiously and then rubbed them together. At the beginning he was irritated by me sitting beside him but later he was irritated by the people walking in front of him and he breathed "weg" at the waitresses when they blocked his view.

Some time into the game I was talking to my friend about the talent of the players, how the ball seemed magnetised to their feet. There was a smashing cheer and I dropped down 3 or 4 feet by sitting still while everyone leapt up.
"Shit", I thought and stopped speaking to my left because a belly had replaced the face. It was a goal and everyone was on their feet clapping with their arms above their heads. The children were on their feet clapping with their arms above their heads, and looking around, imitating and learning.

Later when the game was won the camera showed the fans of the vanquished to the fans around me and the fans around me laughed derisively and sang goodbye to the fools of the other side. Haha! the fans in purple sneered, with pride for having worn the right coloured clothes. The sad face of a man in red zoomed in towards us. The sad man's face was sitting on a red scarf. The fans around me laughed at the face and jeered at it. He was one of the fatter kind of fans, though he was not holding a beer.

I enjoyed the game.
